Honda CD 70, formerly known as the Honda 70, is a four-stroke motorcycle manufactured by Honda. Originally produced in Japan by Honda from 1970 to 1991, production later moved to Atlas Honda in Pakistan. Since its launch in the Pakistani market in 1984, the Honda CD 70 has gained immense popularity and has carved a niche for itself among the already popular two-stroke motorcycles. Notably, it became the first four-stroke motorcycle in Pakistan, rapidly increasing its popularity and maintaining its status as a highly valuable asset with strong resale value.

Honda CD 70 underwent several upgrades during its production years, both in terms of its exterior design and engine. Initially featuring a rectangular speedometer with gear range markings and a maximum calibration of 95 km/h, it had a claimed top speed of 90 km/h. In 1984, the model was rebranded as the Honda CD 70, which featured a revised engine, carburettor and rear indicators. Over time, it continued to evolve, and the newly unveiled 2023 model has an impressive 100 changes to the design and engine, promising better performance and aesthetics.

CD 70 2023 model is equipped with a 4-stroke OHC air-cooled engine with a displacement of 72 cm3, bore and stroke measurements of 47.0 x 41.4 mm respectively and a compression ratio of 8.8:1. Its 4-speed constant mesh transmission and multiple wet clutch plates ensure smooth gear shifting. With a curb weight of 82 kg, the bike offers excellent manoeuvrability. The redesigned engine and wheels contribute to improved performance, stability and longevity. The CD 70 impresses with a company-claimed mileage of 70 km/l, which makes it a fuel-efficient option for daily commuting. It has a fuel capacity of 8.5 litres with 1 litre reserve.

Honda CD 70 motorcycle has consistently maintained a strong resale value in the Pakistani market, and this trend continues with the CD 70 2023 model. When the bike is well-maintained, it can be easily sold at a favourable price without delay.

CD 70 Competitors

Initially launched in 1984, the Honda CD 70 monopolized the Pakistani market with no direct competitors. However, in recent years, the market has been flooded with various companies offering their own versions of the CD 70. These competitors include the United US70, Super Power SP70 and the Road Prince Classic 70.

The presence of these competitors has played a significant role in keeping the Honda CD 70 price relatively under control. Without this competition, the CD 70's price would likely have skyrocketed long ago. For example, from 2005 to 2017, the price of CD 70 hovered around PKR 62,500 due to competitive pressure. However, the prices of bikes have seen a significant increase in the recent past.

One of the main competitors, the United US70, shares similar features to the Honda CD 70. It has the same fuel efficiency and offers comparable mileage. The performance of both motorcycles is almost identical, making the US 70 a strong rival to the CD 70.

On the other hand, the Road Prince Classic 70cc sets itself apart with a bigger fuel tank, which holds an impressive 11-litre capacity. However, its mileage of 65 kmp/l is less than the fuel efficiency of the CD 70.
